Alright, guys! What’s going on? Today we’re going to be reacting to Coop’s last video. Wait.. what? Coop772 is the biggest regular Nerfer on YouTube. He’s the only Nerf channel that had over a million subscribers that didn’t do scripted Nerf War content. And he’s the third biggest Nerf YouTuber overall. Only PDKFilms and Aaron Esser rank higher than him. But now that’s all over…
Coop772 Retires from YouTube?!
Ah, sh*t, here we go again. So Coop772, or Frank Cooper, has retired from YouTube completely. He’s quit and it doesn’t seem like he’s coming back. The Coop772 YouTube channel was launched all the way back on July 6 2007, but his oldest video still up on the channel was from January of 2010.
That’s 13 years of Nerf foam goodness, and I’ve been subscribed for at least 9 or 10 of those years. That’s a long time to follow someone and it kind of leaves an emptiness when that person leaves…
What I Thought of Coop772’s Last Video
His last video was expertly crafted to evoke strong emotion and trigger nostalgia and it worked on me perfectly. If you watch my reaction video, you can see there’s a part where I appear to be crying and while it was just for a joke for the video, I really wasn’t very far off from actually losing full. Coop772 was a part of my life for a long time and it feels like I’ve lost a friend. It really is especially noticeable when you don’t have any actual friends in real life.
So, in the video, he gets straight to the point. Like his regular Nerf videos, he didn’t waste any time or beat around the bush. Coop starts off the video with his signature “What up, dude bros?” followed by “this will be my last YouTube video.” I’m sorry, but what did you just say?!
Naturally, and especially given Coop’s jovial nature, you’d assume this was some kind of a joke or a prank. You might check your calendar to make sure it wasn’t April 1st. But, nope! Coop was serious (or “super cereal” like he would say lol) — and this was the end of the Coop772 Foam Flinging Entertainment YouTube channel. Forever!
This is Why Coop772 Quit YouTube
Coop has been making YouTube videos for a while. From his silly skits, to his speed run shooting competition style videos, to his product reviews — Coop has been grinding out videos for us for 13 years. He started his channel over 7 years before my YouTube channel saw the light of day. And after all that time? He just kind of burnt out. Like Kurt Cobain said, it’s better to burn out than fade away. And Coop said his heart just wasn’t in it anymore.
He appreciates the fans that he’s garnered and the fairytale life being a Nerf YouTuber offered him. He still loves the Nerf hobby overall, but as far as the video production side of things goes, apparently he’s had enough. And he thinks he’s given enough, too. “I’ve taken this channel as far as I reasonably can. I’ve got nothing else to give.” I disagree with this statement, but if that’s what he thinks, then I can’t argue with it — He knows better than I do.
Coop also wanted everyone to know that he has definitely not aged out of flinging foam. So it’s very important to note that Coop772 hasn’t gotten too old for NERF. He says, “no matter what age you are, when you get a foam blaster and you shoot your friend in the face from across the living room — that’s just going to feel good, no matter how old you are.” And I couldn’t agree more, Coop.
The Obligatory Sad Montage
After that final sendoff, Coop772 signed off for the last time and that was it. But wait, there’s more. One last thing Coop left for us and it’s a bit of a tearjerker. Coop left us his obligatory sad montage and it’s got to be the saddest thing I’ve ever seen in a Nerf YouTube video. Ugh.
I immediately tried to *nope* out of the video and click off of YouTube but, and you’ll never believe this, but a little munchkin shot me in the hand with a Nerf blaster, then knocked me out by hitting me over the head with the stock of the very same blaster. I woke up with a headache and discovered I was actually Duck taped to my Herman Miller/Logitech Embody chair.
I was then forcibly made to watch the sad montage. You just had to be there to really understand the situation. At the end of it, though, he did leave an inspirational quote which really inspired me. It inspired me to do a face reveal, and to take my website (and my other website) and my YouTube channel to the next level. Coop772 left a huge void in the hobby when he left and, if you’ll have me, I plan on doing my best to help fill that void with my own unique kind of “Foam Flinging Entertainment.”
Coop772: Final Sendoff
Life Goes On, Long After The Thrill of NERFING is Gone. It’s a tough pill to swallow, for sure. It’s incredibly sad, but it’s also undeniably true. Coop was someone I looked up to as an up and coming new Nerf YouTuber. And after meeting him in person at NY Toy Fair, I can confidently say: Frank Cooper, the man behind the Coop772 channel, was as real as they come. He was a very likeable, very genuine person in real life. And also tall. He’s very freaking tall. I mean, I’m 6 feet tall and he made me feel like a kid. Lol.
For now, since he’s been gone, you can rewatch his YouTube content like I’ve been doing or you can head over to Amazon and pick up some official Coop merch to remember him. I’ve already got a few shirts that I’ll be wearing until they’ve faded out of existence. How about you? Check it out: Coop772 on Amazon.
So Coop has flown the coop, Rob from the SBNC has gone down under, even Bobololo’s channel went to Valhalla. Even I had disappeared for a whopping 5 years. Everyone thought I was dead and buried, too, but I’m back now to make everyone remember my name! So, guys, please help me stay afloat and keep my head above water. It’s hard out here for a pimp Nerfer these days.
