Right. So recently I was at Toys R Us (yuck) and I saw this old blaster on the store shelf. I had never owned any blaster from the Nerf Dart Tag series, so I thought about picking it up. After seeing it in one of Drac’s old videos, I was more than intrigued. So, I picked it up and proceeded to head over to the price checker machine. I have learned to always do this, as Toys R Us has drastically inflated prices across all of their products. Anyway, I put it under the price checker, and… My jaw dropped, and I couldn’t have placed that blaster back on the shelf quicker. I nearly threw it back from the next aisle over! Later on that day, I decided to check eBay to see if they had it for a more reasonable price. I found one with a much lower price, and oddly enough, it was sold by the official Toys R Us eBay store. What the what?! Needless to say, I ordered it from their eBay store and selected the free store pickup option…

Nerf Dart Tag Snapfire 8 Review.:

Alright, so the Nerf Dart Tag Snapfire 8 is an older blaster from the Nerf Dart Tag series of blasters. The Dart Tag series blasters revolved around competitive, team based Nerf War games and Nerf even hosted a couple of tournaments for the “sport.” The line came complete with blasters, safety glasses, vests, and tagger darts, which would stick to the vests and effectively “tag” a player out. The Nerf Dart Tag Snapfire 8 was one of the later entries in the series and it features a unique firing method not seen on any blaster to this day.

Remember the unique firing method I spoke about in the last paragraph? Well, it centers around the fact that the Snapfire 8 is a semi-automatic blaster. It has no motors and it requires no batteries, but it is semi-auto. How? It has a very interesting trigger mech, that’s how. Pushing the trigger primes, rotates the barrel, and fires the blaster. This is akin to a real-steel double action revolver. This is the only semi-auto Nerf blaster that does not require any kind of electricity. It is awesome. It also features a knob on the bottom of the handle that you can turn to adjust the power level. It has two maximum settings; Speed and Power. The Speed setting decreases the tension of the spring inside the blaster, making it easier to pull the trigger faster. This allows you to shoot a flurry of weaker shots in a quicker amount of time. The Power setting increases the tension of the spring greatly and allows for more powerful, long ranged, shots. The trigger pull is harder and the blaster will be slower to fire. The knob can be left anywhere between the Speed and Power settings, letting you perfectly balance the power of the blaster to your liking. The Dart Tag Snapfire 8 has an 8-dart rotating cylinder that fires one dart with each pull of the trigger. It comes with the old school Tagger Whistler Darts, but it can fire any kind of foam dart you put in its chambers. The effective range of this blaster is about 35 feet.

Nerf Dart Tag Snapfire 8 Final Thoughts.:

The blaster is really fun to use, but I think I know why Nerf decided not to make another blaster like this. It has a very weird, very long trigger pull. Because of all the actions that the trigger mechanism activates, it has to be long and, even on the full Speed setting, it is a bit tough to pull. Other than that, it’s a very cool little pistol. It takes design cues from the Nerf Dart Tag Swarmfire and all of the other blasters in the Dart Tag series. They all have similar aesthetic properties such as the black and yellow paint jobs and the futuristic designs. Range and power are very acceptable, especially for a blaster that came out years ago. All in all a good buy, if you can find it for the right price.
