Blee's DECREE
The Nerf Han Solo blaster is a functional prop blaster replica based on the DL44 heavy blaster that Han Solo uses in the Star Wars movies. It’s not the best option for a high performing Nerf blaster, but it just might be the best option for you if you’re a big Han Solo/Star Wars fan.
I’m being torn apart. I want to be free of this pain. I know what I have to do but I don’t know if I have the strength to do it. Will you help me? I give this blaster a 3.5 overall, but if you disagree you can leave your own rating down below.

Nerf Han Solo Blaster
Here today, we’ll be doing a review of the Nerf Han Solo Blaster (DL-44) that Hasbro made to be released in conjunction with the new Star Wars movie, Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens! I am a pretty big Star Wars fan and everyone loves Han Solo, so I was more than excited that they made this blaster. I was just as excited to finally get my hands on it, too. Now, without further adieu, let’s get into the review. Go!
Nerf Herder Aesthetics
Discussing the aesthetics of the Nerf Han Solo blaster is a daunting task. You want to like it, but it just strays from the real DL44 too much. Some of it was for safety reasons, while some of it was necessary to fit the internal mechanics of the blaster. Either way, it’s left us with an almost completely blue colored blaster and I’m not quite sure how I feel about that.
Also, for some odd reason, they can never manage to offset the scope. Han Solo’s blaster has the scope above and off to the side. Seems silly that they didn’t do this part properly because it really takes away from the overall aesthetic and screen accurate-ness, for me anyway. If not comparing it to the source material, though, we have a fine looking Nerf blaster that does look pretty different from a lot of other offerings in the Nerf blaster stable.
Blaster Performance: Shoot Like A Smuggler
The way this blaster functions is pretty original. To my knowledge, it’s only been used once before and that was in the Nerf Mega Magnus. That’s right, guys, the Nerf Han Solo blaster is basically a smaller, Elite dart firing, Magnus. The Nerf Han Solo blaster has a 3 round internal box magazine built in. To load the blaster, you must pull the slide all the way back. Then insert 3 darts and close the slide by pushing it back forward. You are now primed and ready to shoot, so pull the trigger and let one go!
Priming the blaster is smooth and quick and it’s actually helped by grabbing the scope and cocking it back that way. Maybe that’s why they felt the need to center the scope. Usually, I don’t mention the trigger pull because it’s mostly the same across every Nerf blaster, but not on here. The trigger pull is short and feels squishy and sluggish. I hate it. As for the actual performance? It is lacking. It’s not terrible, but it’s clearly subpar and the blaster performs noticeably under what most Elite blasters achieve these days. Bummer.
Nerf Han Solo Blaster Final Thoughts
I was so excited after seeing The Force Awakens in theaters, that I just ran out and started hunting for these new Hasbro Star Wars Nerf blasters like Boba Fett hunting for Han Solo. “They’re no good to me dead.” I had to have them. They weren’t even on Amazon yet, so that made things extra difficult. I didn’t care about what my chances were. I don’t care if these blasters didn’t have a wide release yet. “Never tell me the odds, I’ll find them one way or another,” I thought. And so I did, but that’s where things got a little dicey.
The Nerf Han Solo blaster was blue and the sight was right on top. The trigger felt squishy and a dart actually fell out of the front of the blaster during a firing test. My excitement quickly faded. The performance of the blaster was alright. It could definitely have been better, but it was alright. The looks of the blaster, while definitely not screen accurate, was still somewhat reminiscent of the DL44 that Han Solo has wielded all these years.
So, it’s a mixed bag of tricks that you’re looking at here. Especially for the price these are going for, there are absolutely better Nerf blasters out there to choose from. However, if you are a huge Star Wars fan, there’s nothing else out there quite like this. And for a functional Nerf blaster, sacrifices sometimes have to be made. All in all, I’m not regretting my purchase, but if you’re not a big Star Wars fan, you just might.
