While I nodded, nearly napping, suddenly there came a tapping. As of someone gently rapping, rapping at my chamber door. “Tis some visitor,” I muttered -here I opened wide the door. A parcel there and nothing more. Deep into that parcel peering, long I stood there crying, tearing. Hacking, slashing,  shredding cardboard – there lay the Nerf Rayven, nothing more.

In case you couldn’t tell, I’m a little excited about this gun. While the name of the Nerf Rayven may remind me of Edgar Allen Poe, the look of the weapon reminds me more of Call of Duty. In their more recent games, the bullpup design has been more prevalent. The way the Rayven looks reminds me of a FAMAS mixed with an M-TAR X, with a little bit of PDW-57. (Sorry guys, but I really love the Call of Duty game series.) Anyway, this gun is one of the coolest Nerf blasters I have ever seen. I think it’s the only foam dart blaster with the bullpup design, too. As always, I love the blue Elite color scheme. I find the green colored clip to be a nice contrast. There is a carrying handle up top with a tactical rail. There is another tactical rail mount on the side of the weapon. The Rayven also accepts extended barrel attachments. This gun has it all.

Ca-Caw! Ca-Caw!

The Nerf Rayven isn’t just all about the beauty, it’s got the brains too. The bullpup design makes it very comfortable to use. You’ve got to try it. The trigger may feel a little “heavy,” but you will get used to it in no time. There is a smaller trigger on the handle of the gun which activates the flywheel. The flywheel is the mechanism this gun uses to shoot darts. You hold down the smaller trigger and the flywheel spins up and then you press the main trigger to fire darts. Think of it like a minigun whirring up before it shoots. To operate the flywheel, the Nerf Rayven requires four AA batteries. It’s worth it, though, as the rate-of-fire with this weapon is outstanding. It is fast and accurate and semi-automatic. Yes, semi-automatic. It’s like greased lightning. It fires a dart every time you pull the trigger. There is no need to cock the weapon before each shot. With the included FireFly Tech clip, it will launch glow-in-the-dark darts up to 60+ feet away. The 18-round FireFly clip charges the darts up while they’re waiting to be fired off. This also requires batteries and you’ll need another three. Did I mention the darts glow in the dark? You’ve got to see this in action. You owe it to yourself. The way the darts glow inside the clip reminds me of the ultraviolet bullets they used in the Underworld movie. With this gun, you are now a vampire hunter. You are How cool is that?

Peacocking

Currently, the Nerf Rayven can be found in three distinct variations. There is the original non-elite Rayven CS-18. There is the N-Strike Elite Rayven CS-18, which is the one I’ve been covering. And last, there is the Rayven Stinger. The Stinger is the Elite Rayven with a different color scheme, sans the glow in the dark features. If you get the Elite Rayven, you’re going to want to pick up this Elite Firefly Mission Kit. It comes with another clip and 18 glow darts. Batteries. You’re also going to need lots of batteries. Grab some rechargeable ones here. That’s all, folks. “Nevermore,” quoth the Rayven.
