Welcome to THUNDERDOME!
Thunderdome: Face Your Fears, Build Your Dreams…
Okay, this is a really cool thing. A guy named Rob Lehr turned his depression on its head and focused all of his creativity into building a Nerf arena in his backyard. In fact, his entire backyard is a Nerf arena. This great Nerf War Zone is formally called “Thunderdome.” And just like Mad Max, it has that post-apocalyptic vibe. He built this all by himself, but he does not hold Thunderdome hostage — It is fully open to the public. He hosts great Nerf battles every week at his backyard Thunderdome. Check out this video.:
Rob Lehr Beyond Thunderdome.
Remember where you are. This is Thunderdome. Death is listening and will take the first man that screams.
After Rob built Thunderdome, he stepped back and saw that it was good. He realized it was more than just a backyard arena. Along with all of the college kids and other Nerfers that came to engage in foam warfare week after week, it had become something more. An idea, so to speak. An idea of a group of people that came together to form a community. A Nerf community. Rob wanted to share this vision and hopefully spread Thunderdome, as an idea, around the world. So he launched a Kickstarter campaign to raise funds to make a Thunderdome Documentary. This documentary was meant to share how Thunderdome was created, what it is and what it means to him, and to increase its reach beyond his single backyard arena. But don’t read my words, they can do no justice. Check out his Kickstarter for yourself. And donate if you can, even if it’s only a dollar. For a dollar, you can select a Pledge Reward that will see a dart with your name on it being shot at Rob’s face! Ha! He will film himself taking all of those darts to the face and upload it to his YouTube channel.
